Nayel "Million Dollar Man" Nassar

When it comes to million dollar classes, Egypt’s Nayel Nassar has won a few.

Ten years ago, at age 22, the then Stanford senior won the HITS Million in Saugerties, NY aboard Lordan. The gelding was only nine and the win was the non-official start of Nassar’s professional career.

In March 2018, he and his fleet footed mount added a second million dollar title to their resume when they captured the AIG $1 Million Grand Prix in Coachella, CA.

Three wins, three different horses.

Nayel Nassar has to be the envy of all other competitors at Spruce Meadows during this September Series, bar none.

“I’m so blessed right now,” conceded the 30-year-old Egyptian rider. “I really have Evergate Stables to thank. We have a fantastic team to keep these horses feeling great. We do have some young horses coming up as well, so hopefully this is just the beginning.

It’s one thing to be handed a proven championship horse. It’s another to get results with it.

Nayel Nassar couldn’t help but be terribly excited when the stable he rides for, Jennifer Gates’ Evergate, pried Darry Lou away from Beezie Madden. After all, the 13-year-old stallion had several grand prix and Nations Cup under its belt, including perhaps the biggest of them all, the CP International at the Spruce Meadows Masters, in 2018.

“It feels great,” said Nassar, 30, with a smile. “I’m so proud of my horse. We’ve been close so many times this week. Today, my horse was absolutely fantastic.”

Uniondale, NY – April 28, 2019 – Imagine, for a moment, that you were to scan the world top 150 rankings and pick the rider least likely to be paired with a horse named Lucifer.

Baby faced Martin Fuchs (SUI) might stand out.
Or doe eyed Ben Maher (GBR).

But the obvious choice would be the very rider currently wiping arena floors with Evergate LLC’s speed demon, Egypt’s Nayel Nassar.
